Doing everything by the book

As most of you may know, the 112th Congress has taken over the House of Representatives. The electorate asked for members that would uphold the Constitution and that is what made it to the capital. Most are newly elected members some of which have no political background, but they have a political mandate, to uphold the Constitution.

Controversy is all around them. From the campaign thru election date all the way to swearing in, they are making news. Among the most remarkable, reading the Constitution aloud at the floor of the House. This at least giving a perception on what to expect over the next few years. They will do everything by the book.

This apparently has upset already some members of Congress including our own Congressman Pedro Pierluisi. The reason being is that as of January 5, 2011 six delegates of United States territory will have no vote. You read right. You can enter, you can argue but no vote in the House.

This decision leaves with only voice the delegates from Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Marianas and the District of Columbia. Although many of the delegates have expressed their discontent, none to this day has argued the constitutionality. Some see it as the Republicans discriminating with the minorities but I see it as an opportunity. The opportunity to advance Statehood. Why stop with one delegate which has voice whenever they please? Don't you want more? You want your vote to count, become a State.
